As the Kurds face a possible massacre in Syria, SISTERS IN ARMS tells the story of a group of women soldiers who fight to defend their freedom and save the Yazidi minority from persecution and slavery. After young Zara (Dilan Gwyn) is sold as a sex slave to a Jihadist, she manages to escape and joins an international squad of female fighters led by the Kurdish defense forces.  Coming from different backgrounds and religions, they all have wounds to heal, as they courageously join together and wage a major assault against fanaticism. This feature film is a Feminist War movie, inspired by a true story which just made history. ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

Caroline Fourest is an award-winning author, columnist and filmmaker. She is the co-founder of the feminist, anti-racist and secularist journal ProChoix, has founded the weekly newspaper Franc-tireur and has her own weekly show on French TV. In the face of many threats, she has written extensively on the far right and extremism movements and was a journalist at Charlie Hebdo for five years around the time of the “cartoon affair”. As a filmmaker, she has directed 21 documentaries and has produced 70 films about Muslim women’s voices around the world. Her latest book, The Offended Generation, proposing to defend Egality without killing freedom of speech, is a best-seller and has been translated in many languages. http://www.carolinefourest.com

GENERAL GUIDELINES

  • Stay home if you feel sick. If you’re coughing, sneezing, feel a tickle in your throat or think you might have been exposed, don’t risk it.

  • You must wear a mask at all times while inside the common spaces and auditoriums, unless actively eating or drinking while seated. If you forget your mask, we will provide you with one.

  • WASH YOUR HANDS! Frequently.

  • Hand sanitizer stations are positioned throughout the theatres including all building entrances and other high-traffic areas and filled regularly.

VACCINATED-ONLY

As of November 2, 2021 all American Cinematheque screenings and live events are Vaccinated-Only:

  • Attendees (ages 18+) need to present both proof of vaccination and a valid ID at the theatre to be admitted into the event. (Last vaccination must be recorded as 2 weeks prior to the event). Physical vaccine cards or digital proof of vaccination are acceptable.

  • Reasonable accommodations will be provided to those needing it for religious or medical reasons with proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test, taken within 72 hours of the screening. Additionally, they will need to sign and present a Vaccine Declination Form. For those requiring Medical accommodations, they will need to present both the Vaccine Declination Form as well as a written statement signed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or other licensed medical professional practicing under the license of a physician, stating that they qualify for the exemption.
